Collecting and cake storage
Cakes are normally available to collect either the evening before, due date, or the morning for your, date. If collecting the day before then some cakes my require refrigeration, please bear this in mind when choosing a collection date. You should ensure that you have the facility to store your cake to preserve freshness. Fondant cakes and some buttercream cakes will be fine in a cool room overnight. American buttercream sets firm so is usually fine out of the fridge in the right conditions. However, cakes covered in Swiss meringue /Italian and cream cheese frosting should be refrigerated overnight
Where do I park to collect my cake?

Parking is in a restricted zone, there are double yellow lines outside the collection area which means you can stop and wait. However, you cannot leave the car unattended due to the risk of a parking fine. Therefore, you will need to call when you arrive and the cake will be bought out for you to collect.
Where should I put the cake when traveling home?
Once the cake is handed over no liability for damage will be accepted unless proved otherwise. It is advised either to put the cake in the boot as the surface is flat or a footwell (not with the heater on cold days and if possible, with air-conditioning on if it is hot outside) avoid a seat as most are not flat. The cake, could become unstable and slip from the board. Tiered cakes, the top layer could slide off. On a passenger's lap is ok but we do not recommend this for heavy cakes or long journey
How long will my cake keep?

As a guide, the cake will be most fresh for up to 4 days from the collection. For iced cakes, 5 days for buttercream, and cupcakes up to 3 days. We also advise that you order your cake for collection as near to the date you intend on eating it. So that you are enjoying it at its freshest. All of our cakes are baked to order, so any leftovers that you want to keep for longer can be cut up and frozen. You can thaw out the cake at room temperature when ready to eat.
Where should I keep my cake?

For fondant cakes, room temperature is fine but keep away from direct sunlight or radiators that are on. We do not recommend keeping it in a fridge or somewhere too cold prior to your event as it may make the icing go wet and sticky once it comes back to room temperature. We do not recommend leaving your cake in a car on hot or cold days for long periods. Or a garage or out-building where there may be insects or vermin present unbeknown to you.
Semi-naked and butter creamed cakes
On hot days keeping the cake in a fridge is recommended if possible. To enjoy the cake at its best, allow it to come back to room temperature before eating. For cupcakes, the shelve life can be extended by placing any remaining cupcakes into an airtight container or freezing.
Remaining fondant, semi-naked, or buttercream cakes
Once the cake is cut any leftover can be stored wrapped in cling film and in the fridge to extend the life for up to 7 days. Alternatively, to extend life further, all our cakes are freshly baked to order so they can be frozen. We recommend doing this as soon as possible after cutting.
Can you make cakes suitable for people with food allergies?
We offer a dairy-free cake option suitable for vegans in chocolate or vanilla at a reduced size and cupcakes. Gluten/wheat free cakes and cupcake range are currently not available. We do not take orders for people with nut allergies as we cannot 100% guarantee that cakes will not contain nut traces. If you are confident you or the guests eating the cake will be fine, we have to ask you to sign a disclaimer. Stating you are happy to go ahead on that basis. Unfortunately, we cannot cater for any other allergies at this time. Should you require a more comprehensive breakdown of the ingredients contained within our cakes please contact us.
Can the glittered decorations on my cake be eaten?
If the glitter is sprinkled on the cake or used as shimmer it is edible. If it's on a decorative non-edible food topper it is not edible glitter.
This type of glitter should not be consumed. If small quantities do come into contact with your cake this is fine. However, any decorations themselves covered in the glitter, that is not edible we recommend that you remove these before serving your cake.
Cake toppers
Most are non-edible, made from acrylic or card, some are handcrafted from sugar paste however it’s not advised to eat the icing used as it sets extremely hard and wouldn’t be pleasant to eat.
Cutting tall cakes
Tall cakes are not cut in the traditional way that shorter cakes are cut. Tall cakes serve at least 50% or more than a standard cake. As a guide cut ¼ of a way across. Get a chopping board to catch the cut cake as it will fall due to the height. Cut down into rectangular portions then half the segments again to share more. Do this for the remainder of the cake. You will be surprised how much cake you can serve from a tall cake. ( If you are still unsure Google, how to cut a tall cake.)
